Asano paper moon lamp 01 - the egg

$175.00

Handmade in the Gifu prefecture of Japan for 90 years, the Asano collection of Washi table lights was designed by the widely renowned Shigeru Uchida in 1990. These soft-spoken lamps provide a lovely warm glow, with the help of their delicate paper casing. The simplicity of each lamp is emphasized by a wire armature that dilates a continuous spiral of bamboo filament and rice paper.

Lovely in a group or as a standalone piece, these lamps are sure to captivate a variety of rooms and spaces.

For indoor use only.

Notes on production:
The lamps are handcrafted using traditional Washi paper production techniques; crafting each lamp involves wrapping the bamboo around the wooden form/foundation, and then, each paper panel is applied and glued separately until the entire surface form has been papered. It's a labour-intensive process, involving a highly skilled craftsperson to complete.
